DROITWICH, England, February 9 /PRNewswire/ --
- Doncaster Council gains efficiency and cost savings by adopting PowerTerm(R) WebConnect as their enterprise-wide secure remote application access solution.
Ericom Software announced today that Doncaster Council has chosen Ericom PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView to deliver secure remote access to the Council's estate of 4,500 PCs, providing the council's employees with secure access to a broad range of applications.
As part of a radical new approach to service delivery and a wider programme of cost savings, the council has undertaken a major IT modernisation programme using DELL hardware and Ericom. By modernising its IT infrastructure, the Council can consolidate its estate offices and change the way they deliver secure application access across the council.
All councils have a requirement to transform the way services are delivered so that they can better meet the needs of the community and become more effective at meeting the present and future needs of its citizens. Enabling employees to securely access information remotely will help the council in its bid to improve services within the community and reduce costs.
Ericom Managing Director for the UK, Ian Platt, commented, "We are delighted that such a forward thinking local government authority has chosen Ericom as their secure remote application access solution. Mobile working is now part and parcel of service delivery and today more than ever the need by local governments to demonstrate an ability to both manage cost while improving service and operational efficiency is paramount."
Employing a server based infrastructure, PowerTerm WebConnect delivers:
-- Secure on-demand application access - supports SSL encryption and Single Sign On -- Improves information confidentiality - no data copied onto clients -- Improves employee and IT productivity - provide access where it's needed -- Centralised management of applications and user configuration -- Multi-platform client support enables users to connect from Linux and Windows clients -- Complete control over access rights - integrates with Directory services -- Reduces IT support overhead
