Business Intelligence in Excel and on the Web: Jedox now Provides Supported Open Source Versions for Palo

Notizia pubblicata in rete il 21/01/2010 08:15, tempo medio di lettura previsto 2 minuti e 19 secondi

FREIBURG, Germany, January 21 /PRNewswire/ --
- Supported Open Source for Palo Combines Free Open Source BI Software With Support and Maintenance Services.
Jedox's range of products and associated services now thereby includes open source, supported open source and commercial premium versions.
Effective immediately, Jedox will now also be offering the Business Intelligence software Palo for Excel and Palo Suite in a "supported open source" version that includes support, software assurance and maintenance. Supported open source combines free software subject to a GPL licence with a level of service usually associated with commercial business software, thereby offering users certainty with regard to their business processes. In terms of service, the supported open source concept is positioned between pure open source products and commercial open source products subject to subscription licenses, with the latter being marketed by Jedox under the names Palo for Excel Premium and Palo Suite Premium.
The supported open source version of Palo for Excel is available as a fully deployable, fully equipped open source software package for as little as 188 euros per month, while the complete Palo Suite costs as little as 375 euros per month. With these low entry prices, BI software packages with manufacturer support are now available for projects that would otherwise have exceeded their budgets, such as small installations with just a few users, BI projects in initial phases and department-specific solutions.
The Palo Suite contains all the Jedox standard applications - OLAP Server, Palo Web access, ETL Server and Palo for Excel - in an extensive platform that can be customised to the client's specific needs. The platform consists entirely of open source products and thus provides a high-end BI solution completely free of license fees.
Palo for Excel is an add-in for Microsoft Office Excel based on the powerful OLAP Server database Palo OLAP. Palo for Excel extends Excel-based planning, analysis and reporting processes in order to create a cost-effective business intelligence solution.
In addition to open source versions of Palo for Excel and Palo Suite, Jedox also offers premium editions with extended functions, greater scalability and higher performance. These are available with a subscription license.
