Launch of the Asprey 'Protector Collection'Russian Culture Inspires Jewelled Pieces for Children in Conflict

Notizia pubblicata in rete il 07/12/2009 06:00, tempo medio di lettura previsto 2 minuti e 21 secondi

LONDON, December 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The 'Protector Collection' has been meticulously created with Asprey by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to benefit a charity close to their hearts. The limited Collection of fine jewels and silver objects was inspired by Angelina's reflection on the snake as an iconic guardian, a cultural symbol of family protection and fertility. All net proceeds will be donated to the Education Partnership For Children of Conflict (EPCC) - an international charity co chaired by Angelina Jolie to benefit children in conflict.
During Angelina's first pregnancy she was given a snake ring, to guard her and her unborn child. She has subsequently given birth to Shiloh and her twins, Vivienne and Knox, and the symbol has become endowed with great personal importance as a family guardian. This snake icon has provided inspiration for the Protector Collection and been interpreted into various forms from jewelled pendants, bracelets and rings to a children's diamond and silver rattle, silver tooth box and egg cup.
During Brad and Angelina's extensive research and global travels, they discovered the snake icon's cultural significance across the world. The colours used in the collection were inspired by Russian culture - precious green faceted gems illustrate the colours of the Imperial Russian Guard and the green jewel of the Caspian sea, while black diamond is used as a symbol of strength.
Angelina travelled to Russia in 2003 and visited the Morozov children's hospital, where she wrote a journal describing the visit and people she met. She was also intrigued with the Russian culture, "It is an extraordinary place. The history. The architecture. It is such a rich culture."
Asprey caters to the Russian fine jewel connoisseur at the flagship store on New Bond Street, London. This is the only luxury jeweller where the discerning client can design their own creation, before seeing it handmade by craftsmen in the workshops on the premises.
The individual pieces in The Protector Collection are limited editions, handcrafted at the Asprey London flagship store, 167 New Bond Street. Asprey will also be introducing the Collection in the St. Moritz store during Russian Christmas and New year's from January 6th - 14th and can also be viewed online at http://www.asprey.com. Prices available on request.
